a note from the music director

Welcome to auditions for the Lux Choral Society! We are so excited for the 2024-2025 season! This will be the 11th season for our Lux Singers and 9th season for our Men’s and Women’s choruses. The Lux Choral Society is an elite level, interfaith choral society, consisting of three ensembles. Last season, our 10 years of performing together culminated in a spectacular Easter Reflections concert to a packed audience in the historic Salt Lake City Tabernacle, followed by an unforgettable European tour! We are so excited to continue providing high caliber performances in beautiful locations here along the Wasatch Front as well as nationally and internationally! The LCS is dedicated to helping people feel connected to the divine through sacred choral music. Thank you for your interest in joining us!

preliminary skills check

This includes range identification, sight reading, tonal memory, key identification/basic music theory check, and intonation check.

preliminary audition

This includes performing a selection (aria, art song, hymn, folk melody, jazz standard, etc) of your choosing and an interview with the artistic director of the Lux Choral Society (LCS).

callback audition

This examination will be done by voice part, and will include a check on the singers ability to sing in tune, unify their sound with others, sight read accurately and musically, and the singers vocal versatility.

• Saturday, August 10: Invitations for the season begin to be sent

LUX SINGERS

• Tuesday rehearsals from 7–9PM in Utah County
• Regular concerts throughout the Wasatch Front
• Occasional out-of-county performances (often to St. George, Logan, or Southeast Idaho)

LUX MEN’S CHORUS

• Thursday rehearsals from 7–9PM in Utah County
• Regular concerts throughout the Wasatch Front
• Occasional out-of-county performances (often to St. George, Logan, or Southeast Idaho)

LUX WOMEN’S CHORUS

• Thursday rehearsals from 6–8PM in Utah County
• Regular concerts throughout the Wasatch Front
• Occasional out-of-county performances (often to St. George, Logan, or Southeast Idaho)

financial obligations

• $100 dues per semester
• Tuxedo or performance dress

LUX MEN’S CHORUS

• $100 dues per semester
• Tuxedo
• White dress shirt (tie provided)

LUX WOMEN’S CHORUS

• $100 dues per semester
• Performance dress
• Performance jewelry

If paying dues is a financial hardship, scholarships or assistance are available.
